My research and teaching areas: Geographical Information Systems and -services; Database Systems; Mobile Systems; Image Processing; Scientific methodology

Some words in English:

Geoinformatics is an interdisciplinary discipline at the interface between different sciences, e. g. Computer Science, Geosciences, Cartography, Digital Visualisation and Data Analysis.

In my lectures, and in Research, I am concerned with the basics and advanced methods of Geographical Information Services (GIS), Image Processing, Database Systems, Digitale Cartography, Interoperability and Web-GIS. Furthermore, Principles of Scienctifc Working is one of my areas of interest, thus resulting in lectures.

Special fields of work concern regional planning, climate change adaptation, urban development and spatial data analysis.

I give lectures and seminars, combined with practical exercises. Supervising of Bachelor-, and Master theses, as well as doctoral theses are part of my work.

Einige Worte in deutsch:

Geoinformatik ist eine interdisziplinäre Disziplin an der Schnittstelle verschiedener Wissenschaften. Ich vertrete die Geoinformatik in verschiedenen Richtungen, dabei sind Geo-Informationssysteme (GIS), Bildverarbeitung, mobile und kontextsensitive Systeme sowie Fragen der semantischen Interoperabilität besondere Schwerpunkte. Seit einiger Zeit spielt auch der Einsatz von GIS und die Entwicklung von Web-Portalen in Zusammenhang mit Problemen der Anpassung an den Klimawandel eine Rolle.

Zum Lehrangebot gehören Vorlesungen, Seminare, Übungen, Wahlpflichtfächer und Teamprojekte, ich betreue Bachelor-, Master- und Doktorarbeiten.

Außerdem lehre ich im Bereich wissenschaftliches Arbeiten, wie man wissenschaftlich adäquat schriftliche Arbeiten plant und verfasst und Ergebnisse schriftlich und mündlich präsentiert.
