No. No knowledge of German is necessary to be admitted to the course. However, a German course offered by Hochschule Harz is a constituent part of the master degree course “Technology and Innovation Management” (M. Eng.) – English track.
If it is clear from the documents of the previous course of study that it was conducted in English, this diploma is also considered proof of ability to study in English.
If you received your first degree abroad (not in Germany), you are asked to apply online on https://www.uni-assist.de/en and send certified copies of your documents to uni-assist (uni-assist e.V., Geneststrasse 5, 10829 Berlin) by post. No documents need to be sent to Hochschule Harz in this case.
If you received your first degree in Germany, you are asked to apply via hs-harz.de.
Decisions on admission are taken approximately a month after the first application deadline (the 15th of December for the summer semester / the 15th of June for the winter semester). Then Hochschule Harz needs about two weeks to issue and send the letters of admission via email. All in all, you can expect to get informed about our decision six weeks after the first application deadline.
Hochschule Harz allows international students to start the study one or two months after the start of the lecture period.
Yes, you can defer your enrolment until the next semester. You are asked to contact us in this concern. We will issue you a letter deferring your enrolment.
Hochschule Harz does not provide scholarships. However, as a student of Hochschule Harz you may apply for the scholarship Deutschlandstipendium.
After getting a letter of admission, you need to declare your acceptance of a student place. To declare your acceptance of the student place you are asked to send us the following as scanned files:
1) a proof of the semester contribution payment (bank transfer receipt)
2) a proof of health insurance
3) filled out and signed information sheet for newly-enrolled
4) signed acceptance declaration together with
5) signed notice on the collection, saving, processing and transfer of personal data
6) passport photo

You can apply for a room in one of the student residence halls of Hochschule Harz. Alternatively, you can find a private accommodation in the vicinity of the campus.
“Technology and Innovation Management” (M. Eng.)/English track is a course with restricted admissions (NC). It means that only a limited number of eligible applicants could be admitted to it. Our university strives to maintain the education quality at a high level. This can only be granted by admitting a limited number of eligible applicants to the course.
